Continuing his tradition, PM Modi held a roadshow in Varanasi, where people lined both sides of the streets, chanting slogans in his praise. Following the roadshow, he reached the Taj Hotel, where BJP workers greeted him with flower showers and raised chants of “Har Har Mahadev” and “Modi-Modi.”

Meanwhile, Mauritius Prime Minister Dr. Navinchandra Ramgoolam is currently on a visit to India. PM Modi held a meeting with him earlier in the day.

In the evening, the Mauritius PM will join CM Yogi Adityanath for a Ganga Aarti on a cruise and will also visit the Kashi Vishwanath temple for prayers.

Ahead of Modi’s visit, Congress leader Ajay Rai was placed under house arrest. The Congress party condemned the move, calling it a violation of democratic rights and alleging that the government is trying to silence voices of dissent.

Police officials, however, clarified that the step was precautionary to ensure that the Prime Minister’s visit was not disrupted.
