New Delhi, Dec 27: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday paid tribute to Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji on the occasion of his Prakash Parv, remembering the Sikh Guru’s enduring legacy of courage, compassion and sacrifice.

“On the sacred Parkash Utsav of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, we bow in reverence to him. He remains an embodiment of courage, compassion and sacrifice. His life and teachings inspire us to stand for truth, justice, righteousness and to protect human dignity. Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s vision continues to guide generations towards service and selfless duty,” PM Modi posted on X.

The Prime Minister also shared glimpses from his visit earlier this year to Takht Sri Harmandir Ji Patna Sahib, one of the five Takhts of Sikhism and the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.

“Here are pictures from my visit to the Takhat Sri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib earlier this year, where I also had Darshan of the Holy Jore Sahib of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Mata Sahib Kaur Ji,” the PM added in his post.

Prakash Parv, which marks the birth anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh Ji, is celebrated every year with great enthusiasm and devotion. Gurudwaras are illuminated with decorative lights symbolising divine radiance, followed by Akhand Path and Prabhat Pheri, which begin several days ahead of the main festival.

Earlier, on December 26, Veer Bal Diwas was observed across the country to honour the supreme sacrifice of Guru Gobind Singh’s younger sons, Sahibzada Zorawar Singh and Sahibzada Fateh Singh. The two were martyred at the tender ages of nine and six, respectively, while upholding the dignity and honour of Sikhism.
The Prime Minister had announced on January 9, 2022, that December 26 would be observed as ‘Veer Bal Diwas’ in memory of the martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s sons.
