THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

New Delhi, Feb 5: Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi attacked the Congress on Monday, claiming that the party was trapped in ‘cancel culture’, a reference to its objections to a number of government initiatives.

In his final speech to the current Lok Sabha, PM Modi stated, “Congress is stuck in cancel culture. We say Make in India, they say cancel, We say Aatmanirbhar Bharat, Congress says cancel. We say Vocal for Local, Congress says cancel… How long will you keep harbouring so much hatred, you are trying to cancel even the country’s achievement?”

Further slamming the Congress, Prime Minister Modi remarked that it appears they have sworn to stay in opposition for decades, mirroring their lengthy tenure in power.

“I appreciate the Opposition’s resolve to remain in the opposition for a long time. The way you sat here (in government) for many decades, the same way you resolve to sit there (in opposition). The public will certainly give you its blessings,” the PM stated.

Dig at Rahul Gandhi

Prime Minister Modi took a subtle jab at Rahul Gandhi stating, “Ek hi product baar-baar launch karne ke chakkar mein, Congress ki dukaan tala lagne ki naubat aa gayi hai (Congress’ shop on verge of closure in its attempt to launch same product again and again)”.

“The Congress cannot even imagine the speed with which work is being done in the country today. We built 4 crore houses for the poor, out of which 80 lakh pucca houses were built for the urban poor. If work had been done at the speed of Congress, it would have taken 100 years to complete this much work, 100 generations would have passed,” he stated.

Congress candidates seeking to change seats

Persisting in his criticism of the Congress, PM Modi asserted that numerous candidates from the party were considering switching their constituencies in the forthcoming elections.

“I see that many of you (Opposition) have even lost the courage to contest elections. Some seats were changed last time too, I have heard that many people are looking to change their seats this time as well. I have also heard that many people now want to go to Rajya Sabha instead of Lok Sabha. They are looking for their paths by assessing the situation,” PM Modi stated.
