PM Modi unveils major projects worth Rs 3,880 crore in Varanasi

Varanasi, April 11: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on Friday, launched and laid the foundation stone for development projects worth over ₹3,880 crore in Varanasi.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath welcomed and felicitated PM Modi at the venue in Varanasi.

Focused on strengthening road connectivity, he initiated key projects, including a road bridge linking the Varanasi Ring Road to Sarnath, flyovers at Bhikharipur and Manduadih, and an underpass at the Varanasi International Airport, totalling over ₹980 crore.

In the power sector, PM Modi inaugurated two 400 KV and one 220 KV transmission substations across Jaunpur, Chandauli, and Ghazipur districts and initiated new transmission projects in Varanasi and Ghazipur, collectively worth ₹1,045 crore. He also launched initiatives worth ₹775 crore to upgrade Varanasi’s electricity distribution network.

Boosting educational and security infrastructure, the Prime Minister inaugurated a Government Polytechnic College, a new government college at Barki village, 356 rural libraries, and 100 Anganwadi centres, along with transit hostels and administrative buildings for police personnel.

Further, he unveiled sports infrastructure projects, including a synthetic hockey turf with floodlights at Uday Pratap College and a mini stadium at Shivpur.

Redevelopment works at Samne Ghat and Shastri Ghat along the Ganga, rural drinking water projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission, and beautification drives across the city were also inaugurated.

Additionally, PM Modi laid the foundation stone for an MSME Unity Mall to support local artisans, unveiled a 1 MW solar power plant at Bhelupur, and launched community halls across 40 Gram Panchayats.

He also distributed Ayushman Vay Vandana cards to senior citizens for the first time, handed over GI certificates for local specialties like tabla, thandai, and tiranga barfi, and transferred bonuses worth ₹105 crore to milk suppliers associated with Banas Dairy.
