Sindri (Jharkhand), March 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today inaugurated the Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd (HURL) Sindri Fertiliser Plant and sampled it as Modi guarantee, a key slogan in the run-up to the general elections.
“I had taken the resolution of launching a closed fertiliser plant of Sindri and performed that. It is Modi Guarantee,” said Prime Minister Narendra Modi while dedicating the Hindustan Urvarak & Rasayan Ltd (HURL) Sindri Fertiliser Plant to the nation on Friday.
Modi laid HURL foundation in 2018
The Prime Minister said that in 2018, he had come to lay the foundation stone of HURL Sindi and is today inaugurating it, which will cater to the country’s fertiliser requirement and generate job opportunities for thousands of youths.
The prime minister, who reached Sindri by a chopper, inaugurated the fertiliser plant, which had been set up at more than Rs 8900 crore and would produce about 12.7 LMT per annum of indigenous urea.
Besides that, the Prime Minister also laid the foundation stone for development projects of Rs 17,600 crores from Sindri for Jharkhand in the rail, power and coal sectors.

Jharkhand Governor CP Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister Champai Soren, Union Agriculture Minister Arjun Munda and leader of Opposition Amar Bauri were also present on occasion.
This is the third fertiliser plant to be revived in the country after the revival of fertiliser plants at Gorakhpur and Ramagundam, which were also dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister in December 2021 and November 2022, respectively.
“In 2014, when my government was formed, urea production in the country was merely 225 LMT while the requirement was 360 LMT. The country had to export urea to cater for the requirement. That is why I resolved to make the country self-reliant in fertiliser and set up the plant. Now we produce 310 LMT urea”, said the prime minister.

The prime minister, via video conferencing, flagged off the Deoghar- Dibrugarh new train and the Tatanagar- Badampahar MEMU train.
He also inaugurated the Dhanbad- Chandrapura alternative track, the Sonnagar- Andal third rail line and an additional line between Shivpur–Tori station.
