New Delhi, June 27: In her address to a joint session of Parliament on Thursday, President Droupadi Murmu stated that the upcoming budget will include several historic measures and significant economic decisions.
In her first address to the joint sitting of Parliament following the formation of the 18th Lok Sabha, the President stated that the budget that the government will present in the upcoming session will be a document of its futuristic vision.
“The budget will have major economic and social decisions and many historic steps will be taken. The speed of reforms will be increased to fulfil the aspirations of people,” the President stated.

She expressed that her government advocates for healthy competition between states to attract investment. She added that this aligns with the principles of competitive-cooperative federalism.
President Murmu also mentioned that India has risen to become the world’s fifth-largest economy, noting an average growth rate of 8 percent over the past decade despite challenging conditions.
She highlighted that this growth rate has been achieved despite a global pandemic and conflicts in various regions. She attributed this success to the reforms implemented over the past decade. She noted that India is contributing 15 percent to global growth and emphasized that her government is working towards making India the world’s third-largest economy.
