New Delhi, June 27: President Droupadi Murmu stated on Thursday that the government is dedicated to a fair investigation of the recent occurrences of paper leaks and severe punishment for anyone found guilty, in reference to the irregularities in the NEET-UG examination.
During her address to the joint session of Parliament, the President emphasized the government’s ongoing commitment to providing ample opportunities for the youth to showcase their talents.
She assured a thorough investigation into recent paper leaks and emphasized the need for stringent punishments for those responsible. She called for a unified, non-partisan approach to addressing nationwide issues of exam irregularities, noting Parliament’s efforts in enacting strict laws to tackle these issues.

“It is a continuous effort of the government to ensure that the youth of the country gets adequate opportunity to display their talent. My government is committed to a fair investigation of the recent incidents of paper leaks as well as stringent punishment for the guilty. Even before this, we have seen paper leaks in different states. Rising above partisan politics, a nationwide concrete solution is needed for this. Parliament has formed a strict law against irregularities in examinations,” the President stated.
Govt has started giving citizenship to refugees under CAA law
The President noted that the government is working to rebuild India’s heritage and culture while also advancing efforts toward a better future, highlighting the Citizenship Amendment Act.
She stated that her government has begun granting citizenship to refugees under the CAA. She expressed hopes for a brighter future for the families who have obtained citizenship through this law.
“My Government has started giving citizenship to refugees under the CAA law. I wish a better future for the families who have received citizenship under CAA. My Government is re-establishing the heritage and culture of India along with efforts to build the future,” she stated.

Emergency was a direct assault on Constitution: President
The President criticized the imposition of the ‘Emergency’ under then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi in 1975, describing it as the darkest episode of a direct assault on the Constitution. She noted that the country faced widespread turmoil during this period but ultimately triumphed over unconstitutional forces.
Govt accelerating pace of development
The President stated that her government is accelerating the pace of continuous development, suggesting there may be hardly any part of India untouched by progress. She affirmed that consistency in growth is guaranteed, and the upcoming budget will showcase historic steps.
She highlighted her government’s prioritization of women’s development, noting several effective schemes introduced for their welfare. Over the past decade, India has risen from the 11th to the 5th largest economy globally, attributed to reforms and decisions made in the national interest. Today, India contributes 15 per cent to global development.
Rs 3.20 lakh crore given to farmers under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi
The President stated that her government has disbursed Rs 3.20 lakh crores to farmers across the country through the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme. Since the start of her government’s new term, over Rs 20,000 crores have been transferred to farmers.
She highlighted a significant rise in Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for Kharif crops, emphasizing that India’s agriculture sector is evolving to meet current requirements.
She added that currently, there is a growing global demand for organic products. Indian farmers have the capability to meet this demand, so the government is integrating the supply chain for natural farming and related products.
She highlighted India’s initiative in celebrating International Millet Day in 2023, which was recognized globally. Similarly, she noted the worldwide celebration of International Yoga Day as another recent example of India’s global influence in promoting wellness practices.
Govt lifted 25 crore people out of poverty
She emphasized that achieving a developed India hinges on empowering the poor, youth, women, and farmers. Her government prioritizes them by ensuring they receive the benefits of every government scheme.
She underscored India’s commitment to inclusivity, aiming to ensure no one is left behind. She attributed the upliftment of 25 crore Indians out of poverty in the past decade to these government schemes.
Defence exports grew 18-fold to Rs 21,000 crore
She stated that for a capable India, modernization of our armed forces is essential. She emphasized the need for continuous improvement in the armed forces to ensure they remain at their best during times of conflict.
She stated that with this mindset, her government has taken several steps, including significant enhancements over the past decade, with defence production exceeding Rs 1 lakh crore. Over the last decade, defence exports have grown 18-fold, reaching Rs 21,000 crore.
