Dhanbad, Dec 3: Dr. Pramod Kumar Misra, Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, closely reviewed the Ena mines fire project of Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) and appreciated the coal company’s efforts. He directed officials to win the confidence of affected residents and ensure their proper rehabilitation.
Late-Night Visit to Ena Mines Fire Area
Dr. Misra, who arrived to attend the IIT ISM Dhanbad Centenary Celebration as chief guest, visited the Ena mines fire site late Tuesday evening at 10 pm.
He was accompanied by Coal India Limited (CIL) Chairman Sanjog Kumar Mishra and PMO Director Parthiban P.
The team took brief stock of the development work being carried out for residents affected by the underground mine fire.

This was Dr. Misra’s maiden visit to Dhanbad. He landed at Durgapur Airport in the evening and then travelled to the city.
Interaction With Displaced Residents
During the visit, Dr. Misra interacted with selected members of the displaced families from the fire zone.
He listened to their concerns regarding the problems they face and the existing issues in the rehabilitation process.
He also sought their views on employment, livelihood support and skill development training, assuring that the government would provide additional livelihood opportunities.
As part of support measures, the Principal Secretary distributed 20 e-rickshaws among displaced residents of the fire-affected zone.
Briefing on Belgadia Township Rehabilitation Work
The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dhanbad, who is also the Managing Director of the Jharia Rehabilitation Development Authority (JRDA), briefed Dr. Mishra about ongoing development work at Belgadia Township, where displaced families of the Jharia fire zone have been rehabilitated.
The DC informed that efforts are being made to provide quality facilities, government scheme benefits and necessary services so that families face no inconvenience in the township.
After the presentation, Dr. Misra directed officials to ensure the best possible arrangements for displaced families. He stressed improved employment opportunities, better education, healthcare facilities and access to flagship government schemes.
