Ahmedabad, March 7: Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, arrived in Ahmedabad from Mumbai on Friday for a two-day visit.
Upon arrival, he received a grand welcome at the airport from senior Congress leaders and party workers. He then proceeded to the Gujarat Congress headquarters in the city’s Paldi area, where he held an important meeting with senior leaders of the Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee.
In this meeting, Congress General Secretary of KC Venugopal, Gujarat in-charge and General Secretary Mukul Wasnik, State President Shaktisinh Gohil, CLP Leader Amit Chavda, along with other senior Congress leaders, were present.
A party statement mentioned that Rahul Gandhi first met with former state Congress presidents and former opposition leaders of the assembly, as well as other senior party members. He will also meet with the members of the State Political Affairs Committee.

Congress eyes 2027 Gujarat Assembly elections
Earlier, in a statement issued on Thursday, Rahul Gandhi said that the party will win the 2027 Gujarat Assembly elections, and he will be touring the state to begin the election campaign. Notably, the BJP has been in power in Prime Minister Modi’s home state of Gujarat since 1995.
On Friday evening, Rahul Gandhi will meet with district and city presidents of the Congress, as well as taluka and municipal leaders. Between 5 and 7 pm, he will hold discussions with representatives of social organizations.
As per reports, Rahul Gandhi will address party workers in Ahmedabad on Saturday and will depart for Delhi later that day.
Additionally, the upcoming All India Congress Committee (AICC) session is scheduled to take place in Ahmedabad on April 8-9, marking the first time in 64 years that the event will be held in the state. Party General Secretary K.C. Venugopal had visited Gujarat last Tuesday to review the preparations for the meeting.
