New Delhi, Dec 10: Congress MP and Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, is set to travel to Germany. Sam Pitroda, President of the Indian Overseas Congress, will also accompany him.

Reports indicate that Gandhi will be in Germany from December 15 to 20. However, the BJP has criticized him for leaving the Winter Session of Parliament midway to travel abroad.
BJP spokesperson Shahzad Poonawala mocked Rahul Gandhi, calling him a “foreign hero.” He pointed out that the winter session is ongoing, during which several important discussions are scheduled, yet Rahul Gandhi is prioritizing his foreign visit over his responsibilities as the Opposition leader.

Poonawala said that the “foreign hero” is doing what he does best—going abroad. Parliament will continue until December 19, but Rahul Gandhi is reportedly in Germany from December 15 to 20.
Poonawala sarcastically referred to Gandhi as the “Leader of Paryatan (Tourism),” recalling that during the Bihar elections, he had gone abroad and later returned to go on a jungle safari.
On the other hand, Vikram Duhan, Secretary of the Indian Overseas Congress (IOC) UK unit, said that Rahul Gandhi’s Germany visit will provide an important platform to discuss India’s global role. During his trip, he will exchange views with German lawmakers and members of the Indian diaspora.
