Railway employees observe ‘All India Demands Day’ in Dhanbad

Dhanbad, Feb 2: Railway employees of the Dhanbad Rail Division on Monday observed “All India Demands Day” under the banner of the East Central Railway Employees Union (ECRKU), pressing for the fulfilment of their 36-point charter of demands.

ECRKU leader N. K. Khawas said the observance was held on the call of the All India Railwaymen’s Federation (AIRF). On the occasion, a public meeting was organised at the main gate of the Dhanbad Carriage Depot, which saw participation from a large number of railway employees.

Addressing the gathering, union leaders highlighted several pressing issues faced by railway employees and strongly raised their long-pending demands.

Major Demands Listed

The key demands included restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), early constitution and implementation of the Eighth Pay Commission, removal of the ₹7,000 ceiling on bonus payment with bonus to be calculated on basic pay, a complete ban on outsourcing and privatisation in the Railways, and a 25 per cent increase in kilometre allowance for running staff.

Union Leaders Address Meeting

Senior ECRKU office bearers and representatives who addressed the meeting included Jitendra Kumar Saw, N. K. Khawas, Prashant Banerjee, C. S. Prasad, R. K. Gop, Surendra Chauhan, Izhar Alam, Viman Mandal, Lalan Kumar, Mantu Sinha, Keshav, Dilip Kumar, Nizam Hussain, Ramjeevan Kumar, Amarjeet Yadav, along with other union leaders.
