Lucknow, Jan 25: The Railway Department organized the ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Varsh’ celebrations in the auditorium of the Research, Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) in Lucknow on Friday. The event was held to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
Padma Shri awardee Ashok Bhagat, known for his four decades of work for the development of tribal communities in Jharkhand, was the chief guest at the event. RDSO Director General Uday Borvenkar presided over the function. Other notable attendees included Prabhu Narayan Srivastava, patron of the Mahamana Malviya Mission in Lucknow; Ram Ji Singh, Regional Inspector of Vidya Bharti Avadh Region; Amarnath Dubey, Principal Chief Personnel Officer; and Brajesh Kumar Pandey, Senior Personnel Officer.

The celebrations featured cultural programmes, including traditional dances and a painting exhibition by the Tharu community, which were the highlights of the event.
Ashok Bhagat Inaugurates Library
Earlier, on January 23, Ashok Bhagat inaugurated the Jagdish Rai Rammurat Rai Pradhan Pustakalaya, a library located in Kishundaspur village in Azamgarh district.
During the event, Bhagat emphasized the importance of books, saying, “Books are true friends in a person’s life. They develop thinking skills and also improve language abilities.”
The library can accommodate 50 students and contains books for all educational levels. To support the digital revolution, it is also equipped with Wi-Fi and internet facilities.
Several prominent individuals attended the inauguration, including renowned orthopaedic surgeon Dr. Umesh Saroj; Prabhunath Rai, former Principal of Gandhi Inter College and founder of Saraswati Balika Inter College; B.N. Rai, another former Principal of Gandhi Inter College; as well as Sudhir Rai, Sunil Rai, and other distinguished guests.
