Jamshedpur, April 30: A sudden spell of rain, hailstorm, lightning, and strong winds brought much-needed relief from heatwave-like conditions in Jharkhand on Wednesday evening. The change in Jharkhand’s weather led to a noticeable drop in temperature across several districts.

The temperature fell by around 4.2°C, marking a sharp shift after days of intense heat. In Jamshedpur and nearby areas, heavy rain along with thunderstorms and hail cooled the atmosphere significantly.

“It was a big relief. The heat had become unbearable over the past week, and the rain made the weather pleasant,” said a resident of Sakchi.

Another resident from Mango said the hailstorm in Jamshedpur came as a surprise. “While the temperature dropped, the strong winds and lightning were quite intense for some time,” he added.

Thunderstorm Alert in Jharkhand

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the unstable weather in Jharkhand is expected to continue. On April 30, thunderstorms, lightning, gusty winds (50–60 kmph), and possible hailstorms may occur in isolated parts of eastern and central Jharkhand.

Weather Forecast Till May 5

From May 1 to May 5, similar weather conditions are likely across the state, with wind speeds of 40–50 kmph. However, north-western Jharkhand may experience relatively less impact on May 2 and 3.

Weather officials have advised residents to stay alert during this period of severe weather in Jharkhand. People should remain indoors during thunderstorms, avoid open areas, and not take shelter under trees during lightning activity.
