Rain, thunderstorms likely across Jharkhand; hail and gusty winds warning issued

 

Ranchi, March 28: Light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms is likely to continue across parts of Jharkhand over the next few days, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said in its latest bulletin issued on Saturday.

The weather office has also warned of hail, lightning, and gusty winds (up to 50–60 kmph) in isolated areas, particularly over the northeastern and southeastern parts of the state.

Recent Weather Activity

Over the past 24 hours, scattered rainfall with thunderstorms was recorded across Jharkhand. The highest rainfall of 64 mm was reported from Rajmahal in Sahibganj district.

Chaibasa recorded the highest maximum temperature at 39.4°C, while the lowest minimum temperature of 13.7°C was observed in Gumla.

Forecast for Coming Days

  • March 28: Partly cloudy skies with light to moderate rain or thunderstorms in most areas, except northwestern districts
  • March 29–30: Rain and thunderstorm activity likely mainly over the northeastern parts
  • March 31: Rain or thunderstorms expected across most regions except the northwest
  • April 1–3: Continued chances of light to moderate rain and thunderstorms in different parts of the state

A temporary drop of 2–3°C in maximum temperature is expected in the next 24 hours, followed by a gradual rise over the subsequent days.

Weather Warnings

  • March 28:
    • Hail and thunderstorms with gusty winds (50–60 kmph) are likely in the northeastern and southeastern regions
    • Thunderstorms with winds of 40–50 kmph are possible in the central and western areas
  • March 29: Thunderstorms with winds (30–40 kmph) likely in the northeastern districts
  • March 31 onwards: Thunderstorm and gusty wind activity expected at isolated places across the state on multiple days

Ranchi Forecast

For Ranchi, the IMD has predicted partly cloudy skies with chances of rain or thunderstorms on March 28 and March 31, while the remaining days are likely to remain mostly dry with partly cloudy conditions.

Temperatures in Ranchi are expected to range between 32°C and 35°C (maximum) and 17°C to 21°C (minimum) over the next few days.
