Jaipur, Nov 2: An Enforcement Officer (EO) from the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and his associate were arrested by the Rajasthan Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Jaipur for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 15 lakh.
The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Naval Kishore Meena, the EO, and his associate, Babulal Meena, red-handed as they purportedly attempted to extort a bribe from a complainant.
The complainant alleged that in exchange for the EO not arresting him in a chit-fund case, the EO demanded a bribe of Rs 17 lakh.
After verifying the complaint, the ACB set up a trap to apprehend the EO and his associate. While allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 15 lakh from the complainant, the two men were arrested.
“The EO and his associate are being interrogated by the ACB. A case has been registered against them under the Prevention of Corruption Act,” Hemant Priyadarshi (Acting Director General), Additional Director General of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, said.
Naval Kishore is a resident of Vimalpura village in the Bassi area of Jaipur district, and his associate Babulal is employed as a Junior Assistant at the Sub Registrar Office in Mundawar, which falls under the recently formed Kotpulti-Behror district.
