Jamshedpur, August 20: Chief Minister Hemant Soren, accompanied by his wife and MLA Kalpana Soren, on Tuesday visited the Ghorabandha residence of late Ramdas Soren, former Minister of School Education and Literacy. He offered floral tributes to the late leader’s portrait and expressed his condolences to the bereaved family.
The Chief Minister offered prayers for the departed soul and strength for the family to bear the loss. “Within a fortnight of Baba Shibu Soren’s passing, the departure of Ramdas Soren ji has left me restless and distressed. This pain is unbearable for me. His demise is an irreparable loss for me personally and for the state of Jharkhand,” Hemant Soren said.

Recalling Ramdas Soren’s role in the long struggle for a separate Jharkhand, the Chief Minister said he had made his mark through sheer determination. “Under the leadership of Dishom Guru Shibu Soren ji, he contributed significantly to the movement. His simplicity, humility and deep concern for society defined his public life,” he remarked.
A Leader Close to the People
Hemant Soren described Ramdas Soren as a leader who always stood with the people in their difficulties. “He worked tirelessly to reduce the pain and struggles of ordinary citizens. Even though he is no longer with us, his life and work will continue to inspire us,” he added.
Contribution to Education
As Minister of School Education and Literacy, Ramdas Soren was credited with introducing several initiatives to strengthen education in Jharkhand. He worked to improve infrastructure in government schools and placed special emphasis on ensuring quality education for children from villages and underprivileged families.
“His commitment to education and the overall development of children was commendable. He was determined to ensure that even the poorest students could dream of a better future through learning,” the Chief Minister said.
An Irreplaceable Void
Ramdas Soren passed away on August 15 while undergoing treatment at a hospital in New Delhi. His untimely demise, so soon after the loss of Shibu Soren, has cast a shadow over Jharkhand’s political and social landscape.
“He is no longer with us, but his simplicity, struggle, and service will always remain a guiding force,” Hemant Soren concluded.
