Ranchi, May 26: The Ranchi District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) in association with the district administration held a legal awareness campaign for drug eradication at the child observation home, Dumardaga.
About 104 teenagers participated in the programme, conducted under the guidance of the Jharkhand Legal Services Authority (JHALSA). By presenting street plays among teenagers, a message was given that drug addiction is such an evil that destroys our entire lives. A person suffering from drug addiction becomes a burden on the family as well as the society.
Additional Family Court judge Rajesh Kumar Singh was present as the chief guest in the programme.
He told the children about the ill effects of drug abuse and also gave information about the law made against drug dealers.
Doctor’s advice on not to consume medicine in excessive quantity
Dr Siddheshwar Bakshi said that if a medicine is used for treatment, then it is life-saving but when people use the same for intoxication then they end their lives. “Consuming medicine in excessive quantity causes the brain to become dry and the ability to think and understand is lost and the person comes under the grip of the drug completely,” he added.
Drug addiction is the door to destruction
Atul Gera, head of Life Savers, an NGO, said that drug addiction is the door to destruction. “Drug addiction first of all distances a person from his family. Also, due to his bad habit, the victim goes through a period of financial crisis, due to which negative feelings develop in him and with time even his close friends leave him,” he added.
District Social Welfare Officer Surbhi Singh told the children that after coming out of this, they will never consume drugs and will teach people in society to stay away from drugs.
District Child Protection Officer Ved Prakash said that the government had established a de-addiction centre for those who have become addicted to drugs and are trying to quit, where they are treated under the supervision of good doctors.
Mediator and social worker Panchanan Singh said that the best way to stay away from drug addiction is to meditate so that wrong thoughts will never come into your mind and you will never walk in the wrong direction. “Therefore, do yoga and meditation daily.
