Ranchi, May 13: The Ranchi PMLA (Prevention of Money Laundering Act) special court has refused to grant bail to land scam case accused and former Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren. On Monday, the court while giving its verdict on the bail application of Hemant Soren rejected his petition.
Earlier, during the hearing on May 4, after more than an hour-long argument between Hemant Soren and the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the court had reserved its verdict.
During the argument, Hemant Soren’s defence presented arguments in favour of granting bail, while the ED vehemently opposed their arguments.

Hemant Soren has approached the court for his bail. He has filed a bail petition through his advocate.
Apart from Ranchi PMLA Court, Hemant Soren has also applied for bail in Jharkhand High Court and Supreme Court.
Former Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Bargai Revenue Sub-Inspector Bhanu Pratap, currently in judicial custody, are being held at the Birsa Munda Central Jail.
Hemant Soren was arrested on the night of January 31 in a money laundering case after resigning from his post. In the same case, Afsar Ali, Antu Tirkey, Priyaranjan Sahay, Bipin Singh and Irshad have also been arrested.
