Ranchi, September 9: Jharkhand Governor-cum-Chancellor Santosh Kumar Gangwar congratulated the graduating students at Ranchi University’s 39th convocation and urged them to use their knowledge, talent and creativity for the development of society and the nation.
Addressing the convocation, Gangwar said India was moving forward with the vision of ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’ under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and universities and young people would have a crucial role in achieving this goal.
He said the vision of a developed India was not limited to economic prosperity but encompassed a nation strengthened by knowledge, science, technology, innovation, education, culture and human values.
Governor urges youth to become opportunity creators
Gangwar said research undertaken at universities, new ideas and the creative potential of young people would form an important foundation for realising the vision of Viksit Bharat.
He urged graduates not merely to look for opportunities but to become creators of new opportunities.
“Universities should provide an academic environment where students can develop not only subject knowledge but also their talent, creativity and capacity for innovation,” he said.
Focus on quality education, research and transparency
The Governor said that as Chancellor, his continued endeavour had been to ensure that academic quality, research, transparency and students’ interests received the highest priority in the state’s universities.
He expressed confidence that Ranchi University would further strengthen its role in education, research, innovation and social responsibility and emerge as a leading institution in giving a new direction to higher education.
Ranchi University’s role in Jharkhand’s academic journey
Describing Ranchi University as an important institution in Jharkhand’s educational journey, Gangwar said it had contributed not only to education but also to the state’s social and intellectual development.
He said the reputation of a university should not be judged merely by the number of students graduating from it, but also by the number of new ideas, research initiatives and positive interventions that emerge from its academic environment and reach society.
‘Give wisdom a place alongside knowledge’
Addressing the graduating students, Gangwar urged them to combine knowledge with wisdom and success with sensitivity.
He said that with multiple sources of information and choices available today, the ability to make the right decisions and channel one’s capabilities in the right direction had become increasingly important.
“Life does not always unfold according to our plans. Humility in success, patience in failure, learning from mistakes and remaining committed to one’s goals are essential to moving forward,” he said.
Balance technology with culture and values
The Governor also stressed the need to embrace modern education and technology while remaining connected with India’s culture, traditions and human values.
He said modernity provides the pace for progress, while culture and values provide the right direction. A balance between the two, he said, was essential for meaningful and sustainable development.
Gangwar urged the graduates to give equal importance to their responsibilities towards society and the nation alongside their personal achievements.
He said their true identity would ultimately be shaped by their work, character, integrity, capability and sense of responsibility towards society.
