Mumbai, Feb 26: Renowned Ghazal singer and Padma Shri awardee Pankaj Udhas passed away at the age of 72 on Monday.
He passed away at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai on February 26 morning.
In an Instagram post, Nayaab, the daughter of Pankaj Udhas, wrote, “With a very heavy heart, we are saddened to inform you of the sad demise of Padmashri Pankaj Udhas on 26th February 2024 due to a prolonged illness.”
The iconic singer died following an extended period of illness.

Pankaj Udhas, a celebrated Indian ghazal singer known for his emotive performances, has enchanted audiences for many years.
He was born on May 17, 1951, in Gujarat and embarked on his musical career early in life, gaining fame during the 1980s and 1990s.
Pankaj Udhas enriched the world of music with his rendition of classic ghazals like ‘Chitthi Aayi Hai’, ‘Na Kajre Ki Dhaar’, ‘Aur Ahista Kijiye Baatein’, ‘Ek Taraf Uska Ghar’, ‘Thodi Thodi Piya Karo’ and ‘Chandani Raat Mein’.
