Ranchi, September 4: The Ranchi Institute of Neuro Psychiatry and Allied Sciences (RINPAS), a premier mental healthcare institution, entered its centenary year on Wednesday with Chief Minister Hemant Soren inaugurating a series of modern initiatives, including a Tele Mental Health Video Conferencing Service and a Digital Academy. To commemorate the milestone, the Chief Minister also released a special postal stamp, a souvenir and four books chronicling RINPAS’ journey.
“Every Shortcoming Will Be Addressed”
Addressing the inaugural session of the centenary celebrations, Chief Minister Hemant Soren said the state government is committed to strengthening RINPAS’ infrastructure and academic ecosystem. He assured that all shortcomings would be addressed after a detailed review and that patients would have access to the best and most modern treatment facilities.
“Institutions like RINPAS are becoming increasingly important in today’s world. As cases of mental stress and depression rise, we must ensure that patients receive the right counselling and treatment. We will make sure that those who come here leave completely healthy,” he said.

Push for Modern Technology in Treatment
The Chief Minister emphasised the use of digital and modern medical technologies to enhance treatment outcomes. He noted that advanced tools for diagnosis, therapy and remote care would be introduced at RINPAS to ensure more efficient and accessible services.
He also expressed concern over the plight of many patients who are abandoned by their families or kept confined in homes. “Such practices are deeply harmful, both for individuals and society. Our facilities must reach patients with ease and dignity,” he said.
100 Years of Service and Vision
Reflecting on RINPAS’ century-long journey, the Chief Minister praised the foresight of its founders in 1925. “The relevance of such an institution has only grown over time. For the past 100 years, RINPAS has been dedicated to service, trust and care. That spirit must continue, and we will make it even stronger,” he added.
