Jamshedpur, Sept 2: Sacred Heart Convent School has launched its annual Environment Club initiative, ‘Season of Creation 2026’, with a strong call for water conservation and responsible environmental stewardship.
The month-long campaign is being organised around the global ecological theme ‘Living Waters — Save Water, Save Life’.
Students lead campaign on water conservation
The inaugural programme, held on the school premises, brought together the school management, teachers and students from Kindergarten to Senior Secondary levels.
The ceremony began with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp by Primary Coordinator Sister M. Serena, Principal Sister M. Steffi, Vice Principal Sister Albina, KG Coordinator Mrs Supti Kanaujia, Teacher Representative Tr. Samarpita and student representative Veera Pathak.
Declaring the initiative open, Manager Sister Serena urged students to make water conservation an integral part of their daily lives. She stressed that protecting natural resources was not merely an environmental concern but also a shared moral responsibility.
The programme featured a series of student-led presentations highlighting the importance of water and the need to prevent its wastage.
Class XI students conducted a prayer service, followed by a multimedia presentation by High School students on global water scarcity and the urgent need for conservation.
Students from the Primary Wing presented a poem, ‘Walking Waters’, while a Class VIII student performed a thematic dance depicting the movement and beauty of natural water streams.
Students of Classes IV and V staged a Nukkad Natak, highlighting common practices that lead to water wastage and suggesting simple, practical ways to conserve the resource.
The Environment Club concluded the inaugural programme with a vote of thanks and urged students, teachers and parents to adopt simple ecological pledges that could be sustained throughout the academic year.
Month-long activities planned
As part of the September campaign, the school has planned a range of environment-focused activities involving students, parents and alumni.
The activities include reusable tote-bag designing for Carmel Community College, colouring and drawing competitions for students up to Class VI, and organic Rangoli-making for senior students.
Interactive eco-crafting sessions and water-saving check-up games will also be organised for parents and students of LKG and Class III.
The school’s alumni will participate in a campus treasure hunt and mentorship circles focusing on long-term river conservation.
Department-wise initiatives include ‘The Aqua Array’ water-wand crafts in Kindergarten, ‘The Blue Canvas Extravaganza’ in the Primary Wing, and eco-debates and jute bottle-carrier designing under ‘Hydration Carriers & River Voices’ in the High School.
Campaign to reach communities
The campaign will also extend beyond the school campus through community outreach visits to Parvati Ghat and Adityapur village.
The initiative aims to reinforce the message that water conservation is a collective responsibility requiring sustained action from individuals, educational institutions and communities.
