Mumbai, Jan 29: A Mumbai court on Wednesday remanded a 30-year-old Bangladeshi national to 14 days of judicial custody for allegedly attacking Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan.

The decision came after the Bandra Magistrate Court observed no fresh grounds to extend his police custody, despite investigators requesting a two-day extension.

The magistrate noted that the accused, Mohammad Shariful Islam, had been in police custody for over ten days and the investigation appeared complete but allowed police to seek fresh custody if new evidence emerged.

Police said the accused illegally entered India after changing his identity to Bijoy Das. He was arrested from Thane following the brutal knife attack on Saif Ali Khan inside his Bandra apartment on January 16.

Saif sustained multiple stab wounds and underwent emergency surgery at Lilavati Hospital before being discharged after five days.
