Ranchi, March 24: The 100-megawatt floating solar power project at Getalsud Dam in Ranchi is in its final stage and is expected to be inaugurated soon, Union Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth said.
The project, being developed at an estimated cost of ₹500 crore, will provide uninterrupted electricity to around one lakh households in Ranchi once it becomes operational.
Major Boost to Power Supply
Sanjay Seth said the solar plant, spread over 172 acres, will play a key role in improving power supply in Ranchi and nearby areas.

He described the project as a major step forward in strengthening Jharkhand’s energy sector and addressing long-standing electricity issues in the region.
Project Timeline and Approval
According to Seth, the proposal for the project was sent to the Central Government in December 2021 and received approval in March 2022.
Following approval, construction work began quickly and has now reached the final stage.

Inauguration Soon
During a recent meeting in New Delhi with Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Pralhad Joshi, Seth requested him to inaugurate the project. The minister has agreed, and the inauguration will take place once the remaining work is completed.
Seth also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for approving the project, stating that it is now close to completion with public support.
