Security forces eliminate two Naxals in Chhattisgarh

Bijapur, April 12: Security forces gunned down two Naxalites during an ongoing anti-Naxalite operation in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district on Saturday morning, police confirmed.

The encounter unfolded around 9 am in the forests of Indravati National Park, when security teams engaged in a search mission came under fire, a senior official stated.

The bodies of the two Naxalites were recovered from the site, and the operation is still continuing in the area, he added.

With this latest encounter, the total number of Naxalites killed in Chhattisgarh this year has risen to 137, with 121 of those deaths reported from the Bastar division, which includes Bijapur among its seven districts.
