SER GM reviews rail projects, station redevelopment during Kharagpur-Ghatshila inspection

Jamshedpur, May 27: South Eastern Railway (SER) General Manager Anil Kumar Jain on Wednesday carried out a detailed inspection from Kharagpur to Ghatshila, reviewing rail operations, safety systems and ongoing infrastructure projects along the route.

The inspection focused on track conditions, signalling systems, passenger amenities and progress of key railway development works. Senior railway officials, including Kharagpur DRM Lalit Mohan Pandey, accompanied the General Manager during the visit.

GM reviews Ghatshila station redevelopment

At Ghatshila railway station, Jain inspected redevelopment work being carried out under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.

He reviewed progress related to platform upgrades, passenger waiting areas, cleanliness, beautification and other modern passenger facilities. Officials were directed to ensure the timely completion of the projects while maintaining quality standards.

Meeting with MP on railway development

Following the inspection, a high-level meeting was held in Ghatshila with Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato.

The meeting was attended by Additional General Manager Soumitra Majumdar, Principal Chief Commercial Manager Naveen Kumar Chandra, CPRO Om Prakash Charan, Kharagpur DRM Lalit Mohan Pandey and Chakradharpur DRM Tarun Huria, among others.

Discussions focused on railway projects in the region, train operations, station development and passenger convenience.

Focus on passenger facilities and punctuality

MP Bidyut Baran Mahato stressed the need to expand passenger amenities in view of increasing commuter footfall. He also called for improved punctuality of trains, better station management and speedy completion of pending railway projects.

Speaking on the occasion, GM Anil Kumar Jain said South Eastern Railway remains committed to providing safe, modern and passenger-friendly rail services.

He added that railway stations are being rapidly upgraded under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme to improve the overall travel experience.

Later, the General Manager and the MP jointly addressed the media and shared details of ongoing railway projects and future development plans for the region.
