Jamshedpur, Dec 5: Simone Tata, eminent business leader and mother of Noel Tata, Chairman of Tata Trusts, passed away on Friday.
She breathed her last at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai this morning. She was 95.
A pioneering figure in India’s beauty and personal care sector, Simone Tata is widely credited with transforming Lakmé into one of the country’s most trusted and iconic consumer brands.

Born in Geneva, Switzerland, she played a defining role in shaping the brand’s identity and expanding its presence across Indian households at a time when the industry was still evolving.

Under her strategic leadership and deep understanding of consumer needs, Lakmé grew from a small venture into a powerful national name.

Known for her grace, foresight, and unwavering commitment to excellence, Simone Tata leaves behind a legacy that reshaped India’s consumer landscape. Her work in nurturing Lakmé and strengthening the Tata Group’s brand portfolio remains visionary and ahead of its time.
