Jamshedpur, Sept 3: In a daring daylight incident, a gang of six armed criminals looted gold and silver ornaments worth several lakhs from a jewellery shop in Sonari on Wednesday afternoon.

The Incident
The dacoity took place at Vardhman Jewellers, located on Dispensary Road under the densely populated Sonari thana area. The gang assaulted the shop owner before fleeing with the valuables.
According to police sources, three youths first entered the shop around 12.30 pm and posed as customers, asking to see necklaces and rings. While examining the ornaments, one of them claimed he needed to show photographs of the jewellery to his father before making a choice.

The trio left but returned an hour later with three more accomplices.
Assault and Loot
As they entered the shop, one of the criminals brandished a pistol and held it to the shop owner’s forehead, warning him to remain silent. When he tried to raise an alarm, the assailant struck him on the head with the butt of the weapon, leaving him seriously injured.
The gang quickly gathered ornaments from the display counters before fleeing the shop.
Police Action
The injured shop owner managed to alert neighbouring shopkeepers soon after the incident, following which Sonari police were informed. A police team rushed to the spot and began an investigation.
A police officer who inspected the crime scene said that CCTV footage from the shop would be examined to identify the culprits.
As the crime occurred during peak business hours, the incident has triggered panic among local residents, particularly traders and shopkeepers in the busy commercial stretch.
