Jamshedpur, July 14: Vice Chairman of the Jharkhand State Minority Commission, Jyoti Singh Matharu, today emphasized the state’s commitment to the welfare of minority communities and highlighted the numerous government schemes available to help them become successful businessmen.
Speaking to reporters, Matharu acknowledged that while the Muslim community has been the primary beneficiaries of these schemes, members of the Sikh, Christian, Buddhist, and Jain communities can also take advantage of these opportunities. He noted that a lack of awareness about these schemes is a significant barrier preventing many from benefiting.
Statewide tour to raise awareness
To address this issue, Matharu announced a statewide tour to raise awareness about these government programs. “The government is working diligently for the welfare of minorities. We aim to inform and encourage more people to utilize these beneficial schemes,” he said.
He specifically mentioned the Mukhyamantri Rojgar Srijan Yojana, aimed at youth aged 18 to 45. Under this scheme, minority community members can obtain loans up to ₹25 lakhs from the welfare department. The scheme includes a 40% subsidy on loans up to ₹12.5 lakhs and a ₹5 lakh subsidy on loans up to ₹25 lakhs. The loan repayment period is six months, with a simple interest rate of 6%.
“By taking advantage of this scheme, youth can engage in poultry farming, goat farming, or start small factories, thereby improving their financial conditions,” Matharu said. He urged Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, and Christian communities to avail themselves of these opportunities.
Guru Ji Credit Card Yojana
Matharu also highlighted the Guru Ji Credit Card Yojana, designed to support minority community students. This scheme provides educational loans for studies up to medical, ITI, tenth, and twelfth grades. Additionally, the Abua Awas Yojna offers a three-room concrete house with a loan of ₹2 lakhs to community members.
In a significant announcement, Matharu revealed that six Sikh castes—Lohar, Chhimba, Nai, Kamyar, Kahar, and Swarnkar—would soon receive caste certificates. “Their pending file since 2015 has been forwarded to the Personnel Department after discussions with the Chief Minister. We expect that these castes will start receiving certificates in Jharkhand and other states soon,” he added.
The press conference was attended by prominent community leaders, including former CGPC chief Gurmukh Singh Mukhe, former Tinplate Gurdwara chief Tarsem Singh Seme, Sonari Chief Tara Singh, former Sakchi chief Harvinder Singh Mantu, Parvinder Singh, Gurdeep Singh Kake, Harjeet Singh, and Gurtaj Singh.
