Jamshedpur, May 7: In a significant development for technical education in Jharkhand’s Kolhan region, Sona Devi University has secured approval from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for its engineering and diploma programmes.

The approval, granted on Thursday, allows the university to operate technical courses with a sanctioned intake of 600 seats, paving the way for students to access higher education opportunities, government scholarships, and education loans.

AICTE is the national regulatory body responsible for maintaining standards and quality in technical education across India.

AICTE recognition to benefit students

Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Brajmohan Pat Pingua said the AICTE approval would provide major academic and career advantages to students.

“AICTE approval ensures that our students are eligible for advanced technical studies and government-supported academic benefits. It is also a recognition that the university meets the infrastructure and academic standards required for quality technical education,” he said.

Focus on industry-oriented technical education

Registrar Nit Nayana described the AICTE recognition as a mark of credibility that assures students of quality technical education aligned with industry standards.

Chancellor Prabhakar Singh termed the approval a “major achievement” for the university and credited the Electrical and Electronics Engineering department for securing the recognition.

He also acknowledged the contribution of department head Pooja Tiwari and her team for their efforts in obtaining the approval.

The university administration said the institution will now proceed with the process of applying for recognition from the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE).
