Sona Devi University vice-chancellor receives education excellence award

PINAKI MAJUMDAR

Jamshedpur, July 24: Braj Mohan Pat Pingua, Vice-Chancellor of Sona Devi University, was honoured with the Dainik Bhaskar Education Excellence Award 2026 in recognition of his outstanding contribution to higher education at a ceremony held in Ranchi on Friday.

The award was presented in the presence of Jharkhand Finance Minister Radhakrishna Kishore and Rural Development Minister Deepika Singh Pandey.

A total of 19 representatives from universities and educational institutions across Jharkhand were felicitated for their exemplary contribution to the education sector.

Recognition for advancing quality higher education

Expressing gratitude for the honour, university officials said the recognition reflects Sona Devi University’s commitment to academic excellence, innovation and inclusive education.

Located in the Ghatshila subdivision of East Singhbhum district, the university has emerged as a growing centre of higher education with a strong focus on providing quality learning opportunities to students from rural and tribal communities.

The institution aims to promote holistic development while equipping students with the knowledge, skills and values required to become responsible citizens and contribute meaningfully to society.

Rapid academic growth in three years

Despite being established only three years ago, Sona Devi University has carved out a distinct identity in Jharkhand’s higher education landscape through its student-centric approach and expanding academic programmes.

The university currently offers more than 60 undergraduate, postgraduate and professional programmes across 13 schools, reflecting its growing academic footprint and commitment to accessible, industry-relevant and quality education.
