Ranchi, Sept 15: A delegation from Tata Motors met Chief Minister Hemant Soren in Ranchi to present updates on the company’s work in hydrogen engine development and electric truck manufacturing. The team shared its action plan and recent activities in the electric vehicle segment, outlining how these efforts align with the state’s push for sustainable mobility.
Senior officials from Tata Motors’ government affairs, operations, and finance teams attended the meeting, along with the Additional Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister, Avinash Kumar.
Background
Tata Motors’ hydrogen engine programme builds on its 2022 Memorandum of Understanding with Cummins Inc. to jointly develop low- and zero-emission propulsion technologies for commercial vehicles in India. The collaboration covers hydrogen internal combustion engines, fuel cells, and battery-electric systems, with India expected to be one of the first markets to benefit from these solutions.

The initiative supports the country’s Green Hydrogen Mission and long-term goal of achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2070.
