Jamshedpur, July 27: The second edition of the Tata Steel Rackets Sports Fest 2026 concluded on a high note at the JRD Tata Sports Complex, with 365 players from Jharkhand, Odisha and Bihar participating in the four-day multi-sport event that celebrated competitive spirit, fitness and community engagement.
Organised by Tata Steel Sports, the annual festival featured competitions in badminton, lawn tennis, squash and pickleball, bringing together players across different age groups and skill levels.
The tournament attracted 365 participants, including 206 badminton players, 72 lawn tennis players, 13 squash players and 74 pickleball players.
Competitors travelled from Rourkela and Meramandali in Odisha, Patna in Bihar, and several cities across Jharkhand, including Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Dhanbad, Giridih, Chaibasa, Seraikela and Bokaro Steel City. Students from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad also participated, adding to the event’s regional reach.
Winners felicitated at closing ceremony
The closing ceremony was attended by D.B. Sundara Ramam, Vice President (Corporate Services), Tata Steel; Mukul Vinayak Choudhari, Chief Sports, Tata Steel; and Capt. Manish Sinha, Head – Sports & Training Centres, Tata Steel.
The dignitaries presented prizes to winners across various categories and congratulated participants for their competitive spirit and sportsmanship throughout the tournament.
Tata Steel reiterates focus on sports development
Addressing the gathering, D.B. Sundara Ramam reaffirmed Tata Steel’s commitment to promoting sports and healthy lifestyles across its operational locations and neighbouring communities.
He said initiatives such as the Rackets Sports Fest provide a platform for emerging talent while encouraging wider participation in recreational and competitive sports.
The successful completion of the second edition of the festival further underlined Tata Steel’s long-standing efforts to nurture sporting talent and create inclusive sporting platforms that bring together employees, students and the wider community.
