Amaravati, June 22: C. Ayyannapatrudu, the TDP (Telugu Desam Party) MLA from Narsipatnam, was unanimously chosen as the Speaker of the 16th Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly on Saturday.
Since no other MLA put forward a nomination to contest Ayyannapatrudu for the Speaker’s position, his election was only a formality.
According to PPK Ramacharyulu, secretary general of the Legislative Assembly, just three nominations were received on Friday for the position of Speaker, and all of them were made on behalf of Ayyannapatrudu.

The second day of the 16th Legislative Assembly’s first session started at 10:30 am today.
Three MLAs who did not take their oaths of office on Friday completed the procedure today. With their swearing-in, all 175 MLAs in Andhra Pradesh have now been officially sworn in.
On the other hand, YSRCP head YS Jagan Mohan Reddy is expected to skip the Assembly session as he has plans to visit Kadapa district later today.
