Jamshedpur, Nov 7: A 16-year-old boy was fatally injured as a group of three youths thrashed him over a trivial dispute at Mirzadih under Bodam Thana area on Sunday.

Though the victim identified as Manoj Gorai had sustained grievous injuries, his family members had provided him treatment by keeping him at home instead of taking him to any hospital. The boy succumbed to his injuries at home on Monday.

The matter came to limelight after the bereaved family members on Tuesday came over to the office of Senior SP, Kishore Kaushal informing about the incident and also demanding the arrest of the accused.

In this connection, the victim’s parents have lodged an FIR with the Bodam Thana after meeting the Senior SP today. Those who have been named in the FIR are Bharat Singh, Panchu Singh and Banti Singh.

According to the FIR, three days ago there was an altercation between the victim Manoj Gorai and the accused at Mirzadih over a minor matter. But the next day the three swooped over the house of the victim carrying firearms and sticks with them.  Though they did use the firearms, but thrashed Manoj severely, causing him to fall down.

As the family members thought the extent of injuries sustained by Manoj to negligible, they gave him home treatment but suddenly he succumbed to the injuries there.

Speaking about the incident, SP (Rural), Rishab Garg said soon after getting the complaint they set up a team under a DSP for arresting the accused.

“From the preliminary investigation, it is learned that all the three have fled Mirzadih after Manoj died yesterday. But the police team will certainly arrest them, ” said Garg while talking to The Jharkhand Story, adding that the body has been shifted to the MGM Medical College Hospital (MGMMCH) mortuary for postmortem.
