Patna, Oct 23: The Mahagathbandhan in Bihar has formally named RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav as its candidate for the Chief Minister’s post, with Mukesh Sahani designated as the alliance’s Deputy CM face ahead of the November 6 Assembly elections.
The announcement showcased a united front among the alliance partners, countering earlier speculation of internal confusion.
The INDIA bloc leaders, backing Tejashwi’s nomination, criticized the NDA for failing to declare a clear Chief Ministerial candidate.

They highlighted that the NDA’s approach of leaving the decision to its MLAs reflects delay and lack of clarity in leadership, contrasting it with the Gathbandhan’s prepared and structured electoral strategy across constituencies.
Senior Congress leaders emphasized the importance of knowing the CM face well in advance, pointing out inconsistencies in leadership announcements in other states like Maharashtra, where the ruling alliance contested under one leadership but eventually chose a different Chief Minister.
The Mahagathbandhan’s declaration signals a cohesive campaign strategy, with all constituent parties rallying behind Tejashwi and Sahani to present a clear leadership alternative to the electorate in Bihar.
