Ranchi, Sept 8: Residents of Ranchi will soon get relief from traffic congestion, as the state government has proposed the construction of three new flyovers in the city. Chief Minister Hemant Soren reviewed detailed presentations of the projects at his residential office on Kanke Road.

Three Major Flyovers Proposed

According to the proposal, flyovers will be constructed at the following stretches:

  • Harmu (Sahjanand Chowk) to ACB Office
  • Argora Chowk to Kathal Mor
  • Karam Toli Chowk to Science City

The Chief Minister directed officials to prepare Detailed Project Reports (DPRs) for the Argora Chowk–Kathal Mor and Karam Toli Chowk–Science City flyovers and to move ahead with concrete action plans.

Harmu Flyover a Priority

Soren described the Harmu flyover project as especially important for easing traffic pressure. He said frequent jams on the Harmu Bypass Road cause daily inconvenience to commuters, and the new flyover will provide significant relief by saving both time and effort.

He further instructed officials to connect the Harmu flyover with the Ratu Road flyover to ensure smoother travel across the city. Officials informed the Chief Minister that the tender process for the Harmu (Sahjanand Chowk to ACB Office) flyover has already been completed.

Focus on Future Needs

Emphasising long-term planning, the Chief Minister said that the construction of all proposed flyovers should take into account the city’s future traffic requirements.

“The proposed Harmu flyover is an important project. While constructing all flyovers, full care must be taken of future needs,” Hemant Soren said.

Detailed Discussions with Officials

During the meeting, the Chief Minister also discussed in detail the proposed Argora Chowk–Kathal Mor and Karam Toli Chowk–Science City flyovers. He asked the Road Construction Department to prepare better work plans and implement them without delay, keeping in view the importance of these projects for Ranchi’s growing traffic needs.
