Srinagar, August 29: The Indian Army has successfully foiled an attempt by terrorists to infiltrate along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir.
In two separate operations, security forces have likely neutralized three terrorists. According to the information, two terrorists were killed in Machhal, Kupwara, while one terrorist was eliminated in Tangdhar, Kupwara.
The search operation is ongoing in both areas. The army provided this update on Thursday.
Search operation launched after receiving intelligence on infiltration attempt
The Chinar Corps of the Indian Army, based in Srinagar, posted on ‘X’ that operations were launched in the Machil and Tangdhar areas on Wednesday after receiving intelligence about possible infiltration attempts.
The Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police jointly conducted an operation in the Machil area of Kupwara during the midnight of August 28 and 29.

Despite poor weather conditions, suspicious activities were observed, prompting the soldiers to open fire.
It is believed that two terrorists were killed in the exchange. Additionally, during an operation along the Line of Control in the Tangdhar area, another terrorist was killed. Both operations were ongoing as of the last report.

Encounter ongoing between security forces and terrorists in Rajouri
Meanwhile, an encounter between security forces and terrorists is ongoing in Rajouri. On August 28, at around 9:30 AM, security forces launched a search operation in the Kheri Mohra Lathi village and Dhanthal area.
During the search operation, contact with the terrorists was established at approximately 11:45 AM. Following this, a gunfight ensued between the terrorists and the security forces near the Kheri Mohra area.
