Jamshedpur, May 7: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued thunderstorm activity accompanied by lightning and gusty winds across several parts of Jharkhand till May 12. The changing weather is expected to bring temporary relief from the prevailing heat, but officials have advised residents to remain cautious during storm activity.
Thunderstorms and Gusty Winds Forecast Across Jharkhand
According to the latest IMD bulletin, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds with speeds of 40–50 kmph are likely at isolated places across Jharkhand on May 8 and May 9.
On May 10 and May 11, similar weather conditions are expected to continue over most parts of the state, except the north-western region.

The weather department has again predicted thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds at isolated places across the state on May 12.
IMD Advises Caution During Lightning Activity
Weather experts said moisture incursion and changing local wind patterns are influencing atmospheric conditions, leading to the formation of thunderclouds over eastern India, including Jharkhand.
The IMD has advised people to avoid taking shelter under trees and refrain from venturing into open fields during lightning strikes.
“Thunderstorm activity during this period may bring temporary relief from heat conditions, but lightning and strong winds can pose risks, especially in rural and open areas. People are advised to follow weather advisories and take necessary precautions,” an IMD official said.
Temperature Remains Moderate Across State
Meteorological statistics revealed that the maximum temperature across most parts of Jharkhand hovered between 29 degrees Celsius and 34 degrees Celsius during the past 24 hours, indicating relatively moderate summer conditions compared to previous weeks.
