New Delhi, Jan 5: When ED officers attempted to raid TMC leader Shahjahan Sheikh home in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district on Friday as part of their investigation into the ration distribution scam, they were allegedly attacked and their vehicles were vandalised by his supporters.
ED officers are currently conducting searches at 15 locations throughout the state, and Sajahan’s residence is among the places being targeted, according to an officer.
200 locals surrounded ED officials
The team came under assault as it neared the residence of Trinamool leader Shahjahan Sheikh, who was subsequently apprehended in connection with the case.
When ED officers and central force members arrived at Sheikh’s home in the Sandeshkhali region early in the morning, a sizable contingent of TMC supporters first gheraoed them and staged demonstrations before attacking them and compelling them to depart, the officer stated.

More than 200 locals reportedly surrounded the Enforcement Directorate personnel and the central armed paramilitary forces that were escorting the ED team, as per details.
The officials who sustained injuries were transported to a hospital.
Police did not respond
Sheikh’s supporters launched an attack on the officials and central forces personnel as they sought to unlock the gate of his residence. Despite numerous calls made by the officials, the TMC leader did not open the gate, an ED officer stated.
The officer alleged that the ED officers faced a lack of communication from senior police officers, including the Superintendent of Police in the North 24 Parganas district, when they tried to make contact.
