Dhanbad, July 17: Training for the fourth batch of students and scholars from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad has commenced at St. Petersburg Mining University, Russia. The program, part of an ongoing Indo-Russian academic collaboration, focuses on management in the mineral resources complex and will continue until July 27.
This batch includes eight participants: Yashovardhan Gupta, Sunny Chakraborty, Vishal Raouth, Haider Ali, Saptarshi Sen, Vishakha Sha, Partha Pratim Jana, and Somenath Mukherjee.

A Blend of Theory, Industry, and Culture
Prof. Saurabh Datta Gupta, Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Geophysics and Professor-in-Charge (International Relations & Alumni Affairs), is coordinating the programme.

He described it as an excellent opportunity for participants to deepen their understanding of the mineral sector by combining academic learning with practical exposure.
The training module includes interactive lectures, masterclasses, hands-on sessions, field visits to production sites, and cultural experiences. This holistic approach aims to equip students with both technical knowledge and global industrial insight.

Part of a Larger International Initiative
This is the fourth training module under the Indo-Russian collaboration. The previous three sessions, also held in Russia, covered topics such as Petroleum Geology (June 16–29), Current Trends in the Oil and Gas Industry (June 23–July 6), and Digital Mining (June 30–July 13), collectively benefiting 34 students and scholars from IIT (ISM).
