Indore, Oct 25: Two Australian women cricketers were allegedly stalked and molested by a man on a motorcycle in Indore’s Khajrana Road area on Thursday morning.

The accused, identified as Akhil Khan, was arrested on Friday after a bystander recorded his motorcycle number and informed the police.

The players, who are in India for the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup, were reportedly walking from their hotel to a nearby café when the man began following them. He allegedly touched one of the women inappropriately before riding away.

Following the incident, the duo immediately contacted their team security officer, Danny Simmons, who coordinated with local security liaison officers to dispatch assistance.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Himani Mishra met the players and recorded their statements regarding the alleged incident.

A first information report (FIR) was registered at MIG police station under sections 74 (use of criminal force to outrage a woman’s modesty) and 78 (stalking) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Sub-Inspector Nidhi Raghuvanshi confirmed the arrest and said the investigation is ongoing.
