Koderma, Nov. 11: A major accident occurred due to the falling of an overhead wire on the Howrah-New Delhi Grand Code section in Parsabad, Koderma.  Two people died in the incident.

The incident occurred when 12801 Up Purushottam Express was going from Puri to New Delhi when the overhead wire of the railway fell on the Purushottam Express near Parsabad station of Koderma.  During this incident, a part of the railway pole hit a passenger traveling in the general bogie of the Purushottam Express, due to which he died.  Due to the same electric shock, three labourers working at Parsabad station also got shocked.  Seeing the critical condition of a labourer, he was brought to Sadar Hospital, where he also died during treatment.

According to eyewitnesses, due to some fault in the equipment connecting the railway engine to the overhead wire, the wire got stuck and fell on the Purushottam Express.

Passenger Sanjay Manjhi, a resident of Gaya, and labourer Chhavi Shaikh died in this incident.  At present, due to this incident, Purushottam Express is standing at Parsabad station only, while Sealdah Duronto Express has been standing at Koderma for the last 3 hours due to the main line not being vacant.
