Narayanpur, Sept 22: In a major encounter on Monday, two Naxalites were killed in the forests of the Abujhmad area in Chhattisgarh’s Narayanpur district, police said.
Security forces had launched an operation early morning in the Moosfarshi forests, near the Maharashtra-Chhattisgarh border, acting on intelligence about Maoist presence in the region.

According to SP Robinson Gudiya, the encounter began after security personnel surrounded the suspects, leading to intermittent heavy firing. The two deceased Naxals are yet to be identified.

During the operation, security forces recovered an AK-47 rifle, additional weapons, a large cache of explosives, Maoist propaganda material, and other items of daily use.
The police added that search and cordoning operations are still ongoing. Over the past two days, security agencies had received repeated intelligence about Maoist activity in Abujhmad, prompting the deployment of two specialized teams from Narayanpur Police and other security forces.

SP Gudiya said detailed information regarding the encounter and recovery of materials will be released once the operation concludes.
