Dhanbad, August 1: Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan called upon young technologists to embrace innovation, discipline, and a spirit of nation-building.

Addressing the newly admitted undergraduate students of the Indian Institute of Technology (Indian School of Mines), Dhanbad, during their orientation programme on Thursday evening, Pradhan urged them to align their academic journey with the emerging needs of the nation.
The minister, who arrived in Dhanbad on Thursday evening to attend the 45th Convocation of the 99-year-old IIT-ISM scheduled for today (Friday), accepted the institute’s invitation to interact with the fresh batch of students. The President of India will grace the convocation as the chief guest.

Pradhan, who currently heads the Ministry of Education and has previously held key portfolios including Petroleum and Natural Gas, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Steel, highlighted the transformative role of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
Underscoring the importance of premier institutions like IIT-ISM, he said they play a critical role in shaping India’s future and enhancing the country’s global competitiveness.
The orientation session was attended by several senior faculty members of IIT-ISM Dhanbad.
