Urban local bodies reservation list released; Ranchi Mayor seat reserved for ST

Ranchi, January 9: The State Election Commission has issued a notification releasing the reservation list for urban local bodies (ULBs) in the state. As per the notification, the Mayor’s post of Ranchi Municipal Corporation has been reserved for the Scheduled Tribe (ST) category.

The Mayor’s post of Dhanbad Municipal Corporation, however, will remain unreserved, the commission said.

Reservation details of municipal corporations
According to the notification, reservation for mayoral posts across various municipal corporations is as follows:

  • Ranchi Municipal Corporation: Scheduled Tribe (ST)
  • Dhanbad Municipal Corporation: Unreserved
  • Medininagar Municipal Corporation: Unreserved (Women)
  • Hazaribagh Municipal Corporation: Extremely Backward Class–1
  • Giridih Municipal Corporation: Scheduled Caste (SC)
  • Deoghar Municipal Corporation: Unreserved
  • Bokaro Municipal Corporation: Unreserved
  • Saraikela Municipal Corporation: Scheduled Tribe (ST)
  • Mango Municipal Corporation: Unreserved

The notification is part of the commission’s preparations for the upcoming urban local body elections in the state.
