Ranchi, April 5: Usha Martin University organised its second convocation on Friday at its campus in Narayansoso, Ranchi.
Dr R.A. Mashelkar is chief guest
The convocation, graced by Padma Vibhushan Dr R.A. Mashelkar as the Chief Guest, included Chancellor Prabhat Kumar, Pro-Chancellor Prof. Suresh Garg, Vice Chancellor Prof. Madhulika Kaushik, and Chairman Hemant Goyal.

The ceremony commenced with the warm welcome extended by university registrar Dr Anil Kumar Mishra to the Chief Guest and Chancellor, followed by the conferring of degrees upon 275 students. Among the recipients were 9 gold medallists, 18 PhD recipients, 165 UG and PG recipients, and 83 diploma recipients, each recognised for their dedication and academic excellence.
Mashelkar emphasises the pivotal role of young minds
In his address to the students, Padma Vibhushan Dr. R.A. Mashelkar emphasised the pivotal role of young minds in realising the dream of a developed India. He underscored that the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ can only be achieved through the dedication and active participation of the youth.

Mashelkar shares seven tenets
Dr Mashelkar shared seven tenets encapsulating the essence of a developed nation—balanced, cultured, educated, affluent, well-governed, secure, and happy. He urged the graduates to embody these ideals as they embark on their journey of excellence. He emphasised the importance of active participation in nation-building, encouraging the students to contribute positively to society and uphold the values of their beloved motherland.
VC presents annual report
During the event, Vice Chancellor Prof. Madhulika Kaushik presented the Annual Report, shedding light on the university’s progress and infrastructure developments on the permanent campus. Emphasising the university’s growth trajectory, Prof. Kaushik attributed its success to a robust teaching-learning process activity. Prof. Kaushik also highlighted the university’s significant strides in Research and Development, showcasing its commitment to innovation and academic excellence.
She underscored vital developments such as visits by distinguished personalities, publications, research collaborations, awards conferred, and student activities, reaffirming the university’s dedication to holistic development and students’ success.
A highlight of the convocation was the Medals and Awards Ceremony, where outstanding students were recognised for their academic prowess.
Recipients of gold medals
Akash Kumar Soni, Nilay Kumar, Abhilasha Bharti, Surbhi Deogam, Laxmi Sardar, Srija, Aryan Kumar Gupta, Krishna Sharma, and Harshad Mehta were among the recipients of gold medals, exemplifying excellence in their respective fields of study.
During the convocation ceremony, Mashelkar awarded gold medals to students for their exemplary academic achievements. The chancellor conferred PhD degrees upon deserving candidates, recognising their significant contributions to their respective fields.
Meanwhile, the vice chancellor presented undergraduate and postgraduate degrees to students.
