Ranchi, 23 April: Usha Martin University (UMU), Ranchi, has been awarded an ‘A’ grade by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), achieving a remarkable score of 3.17—the highest ever secured by any university in the states of Bihar and Jharkhand.

Rigorous Evaluation Yields Top Marks

The NAAC peer team conducted a comprehensive on-site evaluation from 19 to 21 February 2025, assessing the university across a wide spectrum of criteria: from curriculum and teaching methodologies to research, infrastructure, governance, and community engagement. The team engaged with students, faculty, alumni, staff, and parents, while inspecting UMU’s academic and administrative facilities.

From Modest Beginnings to Multidisciplinary Excellence

Founded in 2017 with just five programmes—BBA, MBA, BCA, MCA, and a Diploma in Engineering—UMU has seen remarkable growth. Now based on a state-of-the-art, 30-acre campus in Angara, Ranchi, the university offers over 30 programmes across diverse fields including Management, Pharmacy, Agriculture, Physiotherapy, Paramedical Sciences, Nursing, Engineering, Law, English, Forensic Sciences, and Journalism & Mass Communication. The institution currently serves nearly 4,000 students.

Research-Driven Faculty and Academic Impact

UMU’s academic prowess is underpinned by a highly qualified, research-oriented faculty. Collectively, they have filed 70 patents (20 of which have been granted), published 874 research papers, and authored or contributed to 809 books and chapters—demonstrating a strong commitment to both academic advancement and industry relevance.

Strong Industry Linkages and Student Outcomes

The university boasts a solid placement record, with graduates being recruited by prestigious national and international employers. UMU’s dedicated Placement and Career Services Cell supports students through skill development workshops, industry partnerships, internships, and job placement drives—paving the way for bright professional futures.

Impressive Infrastructure and Green Initiatives

UMU’s campus infrastructure includes a cutting-edge Incubation Centre, modern laboratories, a Central Instrumentation Centre, and an Indian Knowledge System Cell. Environmental sustainability is prioritised through facilities such as a 100 kW solar power plant, biogas unit, and rainwater harvesting systems. Students also benefit from amenities like a JSCA-affiliated cricket ground, a polyhouse, and in-campus hostels for both boys and girls.

Leadership Speaks: A Vision for the Future

University leaders celebrated this significant milestone. Chancellor Prabhat Kumar, Chairman Hemant Goyal, Pro-Chancellor S.C. Garg, and Vice-Chancellor Madhulika Kaushik lauded the dedication of faculty and staff.

“We are thrilled by this achievement and remain committed to reaching even greater heights,” said Garg.

“We aspire to be the institution of choice for students seeking high-quality education at an affordable cost,” added Kaushik.
