Ranchi, August 11: Usha Martin University has launched its Deeksharambh (Student Induction) Programme for first-year students from the Department of Pharmacy, School of Pharmacy, Department of Physiotherapy, and School of Nursing. The four-day programme, running from August 11 to 14, 2025, aims to help students understand the university’s academic culture, facilities, and values.

The inaugural session began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, symbolising the removal of ignorance and the pursuit of knowledge. Dr. Rupa Kumari welcomed the gathering, followed by an inspiring address from Vice Chancellor Prof. Madhulika Kaushik. Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Milind, Registrar Dr. Anil Kumar Mishra, and Dean Academics Prof. Barij N. Sinha also spoke, sharing the university’s vision, commitment to academic excellence, and student-focused initiatives.

Students were then introduced to the Heads of Departments, the Controller of Examinations, and the Deans, after which they participated in an interactive Q&A session with parents. The day ended with the National Anthem and departmental visits.

Over the following three days, the programme included physical training, yoga sessions, ERP system orientation, library familiarisation, sports activities, Universal Human Values (UHV) sessions, and placement guidance by Dr. Priyanka Pallavi. Faculty members and student coordinators ensured the smooth execution of all activities, creating a warm and welcoming environment for the newcomers.

Dean of Students’ Welfare, Dr. Jayantika Pal, expressed confidence that the induction would help students settle into university life and excel in their academic journey. The programme successfully combined academic orientation with co-curricular activities, laying a strong foundation for the new academic year.
