New Delhi, Jan 4: Vice Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi assumed the role of Vice Chief of the Navy on Thursday, succeeding Vice Admiral Sanjay J Singh. Vice Admiral Sanjay J Singh has now taken on the position of Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command.
Vice Admiral Tripathi was Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command before assuming command as vice chief.
Who is Dinesh K Tripathi?
He graduated from the National Defence Academy at Khadakwasla and on July 1, 1985, he was commissioned into the Indian Navy.

He is a communication and electronic warfare specialist who worked as a signal communication officer and an electronic warfare officer on Navy front-line warships.
Vice Admiral Tripathi has been in command of the Indian naval ships Vinash, Kirch and Trishul.
Additionally, he has held a number of significant staff and operational positions, such as principal director of network-centric operations and naval plan in Delhi, director of naval operations, and fleet operations officer of the Western Fleet in Mumbai.
After being promoted to the rank of Rear Admiral, he held the positions of Flag Officer Commanding of the Eastern Fleet and assistant chief of naval staff (policy and plans) at navy headquarters.
